Curonian Spit and Nida

Participants of excursion will be introduced with formation of Curionian Spit, its history. They will visit Juodkrantė village, Amber Bay (place, where they learn more about excavation and processing of raw amber). Later we will go to Witches and

Devils hill, where legends and stories will be told about wooden sculptures, which were carved according local tales and myths in 1980s.

Further tourists will stop at Pervalka village to hear about fishermen‘s life in earlier times and nowadays. History and symbolic meanings of wooden decorations – Weathervanes will be explained. Tour will continue to Dead Dunes, people will go on foot on a wooden path up to 52 meters sand dunes. On the top a very spectacular viewpoint place appears and they will hear about villages buried under the sand in 16th -19th centuries.

Nemunas River Delta and Ventė Cape

Participants will go to Šilutė, have sightseeing in Šilutė centre. Later they will continue to Minija village - Lithuanian „Venice“, where the main street is river, also will learn about history, geography and local people life in Lithuania Minor area.

After that tourists will drive to Ventė Cape – Ornithological bird banding station. They will learn about birds‘ banding traditions and history in the museum, will look at big nets for birds and walk on the pier built for blocking strong waves. Tourists will learn about geographical and historical features of Nemunas Delta and Curonian Lagoon.

Šiauliai and Hill of Crosses

Tourists will travel to Šiauliai, on the way they will hear the history of the area, visit places of attractions in the center: Chaim Frenkel vila- museum, St.Peter‘s and Paul‘s cathedral, Iron Fox, enjoy Bicycles museum, stop at a monument dedicated to the pope St.Paul the 2nd, take a stroll along the boulevard of Šiauliai.

The next stop will be at the hill of Crosses, where participants will hear stories of resistance and religious

faith of Lithuanian people. During the tour, participants will be introduced with the historical, geographical and local features of Šiauliai area.

Palanga and „Amber museum“

Participants will go to Palanga, visit Palanga Botanical garden, will hear stories about Tičkevičiai family, history of Palanga as a town. They will get detailed explanation about the origin, formation of amber, as a pine tree resin. Also they will get lecture about colours, kinds of amber and other features inside the Amber museum.

Later tour will continue in Basanavičius street - main pedestrian promenade, Vytautas street will be visited, park of sculptures. Tourists will visit the church „Assumption of the Virgin Mary to Heaven“, which was built in neo-Gothic style in 1897 with support of count Tičkevičius family.

Samogitia NaTional Park and Cold War Museum

Participants will go to Plateliai, visit Winter Shevrodites masks‘ museum, learn about Samogitia region features, will visit the local „Barn of Plateliai Manor“ – museum. Participants will have the opportunity to visit the Siberia viewing tower, yachts club and enjoy the views of lakes from Plateliai lake viewing platform on the top of the hill.

Later tourists will have options to go to „Šeirė walking trail“ (going along the shores of a lake) or to visit Saints Peter and Paul archaic wooden church. The tour will continue inside the „Cold War Museum“ (a detailed excursion will be given inside). On the way, people will hear stories about the Samogitia area geographical and historical features.

„Amber Queen“ museum (Klaipėda) and secrets of amber processing

Participants will go to the amber factory which is in the southern part of Klaipėda and belongs to the museum „Amber Queen“ owners. It will be demonstrated all stages of amber washing, polishing, sorting according to colours and sizes, changing colour, making jewellery, drilling holes and preparation of amber necklaces and bracelets.

After that participants will go to Klaipėda old town. They will visit the „Amber Queen“ museum‘s historical part, where will hear stories about unique amber pieces of art, jewellery and interesting exhibits, collected by the museum. Also, they can enjoy some amber tea and traditional local cake. Tourists will have sightseeing in the centre, will go along Klaipėda Castle museum, will stop at Theatre square to see a sculpture dedicated to german writer Simon Dach, will visit Fridrich passage and hear the history of Klaipėda, later stroll along river Danė.

Cycling tour around Smiltynė and Klaipėda

Participants will start cycling to the old ferry port, cross the lagoon, stop at Smiltynė on the other side to see an exhibition of old ships and boats and ethnographical fisherman

farmstead. They will look at Lithuanian Sea Museum, will hear stories about the museum, Klaipėda and port activities, continue cycling to the southern pier.

Later tourists will cycle through the forest to the beach and learn about the geographical and historical features of the area. Tour will continue back in Klaipėda old town and will be sightseeing around places of attraction.
